Mary Grace Canfield Photographic Collection, circa 1920s

Mary Grace Canfield (1864-1946) was a native of Vermont and the wife of the Reverend Harry Lee Canfield (1860-1942), a Universalist minister working in North Carolina. The Canfields came to North Carolina in the 1920s. The collection consists of 246 black-and-white photographic prints that appear to date from the 1920s and are probably the work of Mary Canfield. The images show historic homes, farm buildings, churches, street scenes, Confederate veterans, gristmills, and monuments throughout North Carolina.
